Organic Black Sesame
Sesame seeds are the seeds of an ancient cultivated plant. There are several varieties of sesame seeds, which are usually distinguished by colour. Our range includes black and white sesame.
Today, sesame is used and cultivated almost all over the world. However, it has been known in cooking and medicine for at least 3,500 years. Sesame seeds are used to make sesame oil and sesame flour, or they can be used whole. The whole seeds are first roasted without oil to enhance their flavour. Sesame also contains up to 80 per cent of monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins E and A, and B vitamins, as well as magnesium, manganese, iron, calcium, copper and zinc.
Black sesame differs from white sesame in that it is unhulled. As a result, its flavour is also much more pronounced. Black sesame is also richer than white sesame in a number of nutrients that are naturally present in the seed coat. For this reason, black sesame is more commonly used for medicinal purposes. Sesame has a sweet flavour, reminiscent of walnuts, particularly when roasted.
Our black sesame is of premium quality.

Uses
Sesame seeds are extremely versatile as a spice. It is very easy to incorporate them into your daily diet.
They can be added to salads and baked goods, or sprinkled over bread. Using sesame and salt, you can make gomasio (ground salt and sesame), which is used to season all kinds of dishes. We can also make tahini from sesame seeds, which is nothing more than sesame butter. Tahini is also an ingredient in the popular chickpea and vegetable spread known as hummus. Using a special device, we can even make top-quality sesame oil at home from roasted sesame seeds.
Sesame is extremely popular in the cuisines of the Middle and Far East. Combined with other spices, it can enhance the flavour of beef and poultry. We can also make a sweet treat from sesame seeds and honey, known as halva. Sesame seeds are also an essential ingredient in homemade granola, bread and energy balls, as well as lactation biscuits.
