Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) Organic powder

Lentinula edodes, or shiitake, is one of the most important medicinal mushrooms in traditional Chinese medicine. It has been used there for at least 2,000 years and is often referred to simply as the ‘queen of mushrooms’. It is also widely used in Asian cuisine.

In powder form, shiitake contains many nutrients, and its beneficial effects have also been scientifically proven. Studies from various countries around the world have identified numerous beneficial effects associated with the regular consumption of shiitake mushrooms. In particular, it strengthens the immune system and helps prevent a range of diseases affecting internal organs.

Shiitake is frequently the subject of research due to its antiviral effects, beneficial impact on the liver and ability to lower blood sugar levels.

The cultivation of our Lentinula edodes is strictly monitored, without the use of chemicals or pesticides, and 100 per cent organic.

What does it contain and who is it intended for?

Shiitake mushrooms consist of amino acids (isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine and valine), vitamins (B1, B2, B12), mineral salts (potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron and zinc), polysaccharides (the most important being β-glucan lentinan) and other antioxidants. For this reason, the mushroom is also recommended for vegetarians and vegans, as it is a rich source of protein containing essential amino acids, vitamins, minerals, etc.

The shiitake mushroom is characterised by the compound lentinan, which is believed to have antiviral and anti-cancer properties. Lentinan is a complex polysaccharide which is considered to boost the immune system and is a component of several natural supplements designed to enhance immune resistance (beta-1,3-glucan).

All the components in the mushroom are present in large quantities and have a very positive effect on our body.

Alongside the turkey tail mushroom (Trametes versicolor), the shiitake is one of the most extensively researched mushrooms, and is also extremely popular due to its numerous pharmacologically active compounds. Its medicinal effects have thus been scientifically proven. It is used primarily to combat various forms of cancer and to regulate cholesterol levels.

Its composition gives it an incredibly wide range of effects, including:

And what is particularly important here is that the shiitake mushroom is a 100% natural product that can help us in a natural way. It alleviates the symptoms of our ailments and has a positive effect on our general well-being.

Why mushrooms in particular?

Mushrooms are very interesting. They are neither plants nor animals; what they are, however, are certainly incredible organisms that have managed to survive practically since the beginning of the world. They have developed a unique survival strategy that has sustained them to this day. We humans can also benefit from their unique properties by incorporating them into our diet. They bring balance to our bodies, contribute to our general well-being and protect us from numerous health issues.

As certain natural active compounds are indigestible or difficult for us to digest, it is very important that we consume only the very best powdered mushrooms. The mushrooms must be properly cultivated, dried and prepared. They must be ground into a fine powder without any lumps. The colour of the powder is lighter, though this also depends on the type of mushroom we are taking. As mushrooms are so effective precisely because they have the ability to absorb everything – both good and bad – from the environment, it is important to choose organically grown ones.

Usage

Mix the mushroom into a liquid, such as water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, yoghurt, juice, a smoothie, etc. Stir well and drink in small sips as soon as possible. Take it during a meal or at least half an hour after eating.

It is advisable to take the gobo or mixture continuously for at least three to four weeks and not to stop taking it as soon as you notice an improvement. Repeat the course twice a year, preferably in autumn and spring. We recommend long-term use only for chronic conditions. Even then, we recommend regular breaks of a few days, which should be as long as possible once improvement is seen.

We recommend taking medicinal mushrooms alongside vitamin C.

Recommended daily intake

The recommended intake is 1–2 teaspoons per day. 1 teaspoon contains approximately 2–3 grams of the mushroom blend. We recommend taking half the amount for a few days when you first start, and gradually increasing to the recommended amount. If possible, take half the dose in the morning and half in the evening.
