Organic nettle (Urtica dioica)

Nettle, or Urtica dioica, is a plant (a herbaceous perennial) found all over the world and has been used for centuries in various countries and cultures. Stinging nettle has been harvested for centuries for its nutritional properties; it was consumed as a wild dietary supplement, applied topically to the skin and drunk as a herbal tea.

Nettle leaves are harvested in spring, once the plant has matured but before it begins to flower. The harvested leaves are slowly dried and ground into a fine powder.

Key properties of stinging nettle

Stinging nettle is rich in antioxidants, protein and fibre. Nettles are also recognised as a dietary supplement, as they are exceptionally rich in calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium. They also contain vitamins A, C and K, and, in particular, large amounts of vitamin B.
