Organic carob powder
The carob tree is a Mediterranean tree belonging to the legume family. During processing, the pods are first dried, then crushed, gently roasted at a temperature of up to 150 °C and finally ground into a powder. Carob is particularly rich in dietary fibre, which is important for our digestion and a healthy gut, and this also has a positive effect on our health. It is also extremely nutritious, as it contains magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium, niacin, copper and vitamins. Due to its polyphenol content, consuming carob can be beneficial for our heart and blood vessels.
Carob is thought to have been used in the diet for over 4,000 years. The aroma and flavour of carob powder are reminiscent of cocoa and cinnamon. Carob is naturally sweet and not bitter like cocoa.
Our carob powder is organically grown. Compared to most carob powders available on shop shelves, ours is ground much more finely and is therefore extremely versatile.

Uses
Carob is mostly used as a substitute for cocoa or chocolate. We use it in recipes for homemade cakes and bread. We can also make a carob drink, which is not only tasty but also nutritious. Thanks to its sweet flavour, there is no need to add sugar or other sweeteners. Carob can also be easily added to yoghurt, smoothies, coffee, hot chocolate, puddings, creams, spreads and the like. Carob powder is suitable for young children as it contains no caffeine or theobromine. Children are sure to enjoy it in porridge with cocoa, as an addition to tsampa and muesli, or even in a porridge-like dish.
Making a carob drink is simple. Add 1–2 tablespoons of carob powder to 200 ml of (warm) milk or a plant-based drink and stir well. Adjust the amount of carob to taste. For the finishing touch, add a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg or cayenne pepper. It also goes well with nuts.
