Bentonite

Bentonite is a natural clay formed from volcanic ash and is often found near volcanic areas. It consists mainly of the mineral montmorillonite, which gives it its special properties.

Bentonite is known for its high capacity to absorb liquids and gases. Due to its structure, it has a large surface area, which enables it to bind and retain substances such as toxins, excess moisture and impurities.

There are several types of bentonite, which differ in terms of their mineral composition and properties. Some common types include sodium bentonite, calcium bentonite and mixtures of the two.

Characteristics of bentonite

Like all clays, bentonite contains various minerals and metals, such as silicon, iron, calcium, magnesium, sodium and, occasionally, aluminium. The quantity of each mineral or metal may vary depending on the type of clay. In addition to its mineral composition, bentonite also has medicinal properties, as it possesses absorbent and ion-exchange capabilities. Thanks to its high absorbency, bentonite acts as an antiseptic, anti-infective and anti-inflammatory agent. In medicine, bentonite is used for both internal and external applications.

Storage and warnings

Store in a dry and cool place at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep this food supplement out of the reach of children!

Remember the importance of a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle; this food supplement is therefore not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake or dose.

We advise against use by pregnant and breastfeeding women. If you are taking medication or other dietary supplements, consult your doctor or pharmacist regarding the separate intake of bentonite. Bentonite has the ability to bind to other substances and may therefore reduce the effectiveness of other medicines or supplements if taken together.

Packaging

An airtight zip-lock bag, in which the product retains all its freshness and aroma. The packaging protects against light and air, as it consists of several layers of protection that preserve the properties of the contents.

The packaging is very practical and can be recycled.

Usage and recommended daily intake

For any use of bentonite, we recommend using a wooden or plastic teaspoon, as the clay reacts with metal.

Add 1 teaspoon of powder to a glass and pour in 200 ml of water. Leave the mixture to stand for at least one hour. For best results, drink the clay drink in the morning before breakfast or in the evening before bed. A course of the clay drink usually lasts about a month and a half, during which there is a weekly break halfway through.

Use for dogs or cats. The drink is prepared in the evening; the animal must drink it in the morning. Mix 1 wooden teaspoon of bentonite into half a litre of water. Leave it to stand overnight so that the clay settles. The dog or cat drinks the mixture in the morning; any excess sediment is discarded. It is always necessary to ensure that the animal has access to fresh water.

When combined with water, teas and hydrolates, bentonite clay can be used as a mask, which has an exceptional ability to absorb excess oils, bacteria, toxins and other impurities from the skin. Bentonite clay can be added to cosmetic products designed to restore and regenerate skin affected by acne, insect bites, redness, lichen or itching. Like other clays, bentonite clay cleanses the pores, detoxifies and refreshes the skin, and tightens enlarged pores. For this use, we recommend applying it no more than once or twice a week.
