Lemongrass (herbal tea)
Lemongrass is a tropical grass with distinctive serrated dark green leaves, which can grow up to 180 cm tall. It is highly aromatic, mainly due to its content of citral and geraniol, which give the plant its characteristic citrus scent and flavour. As an essential oil, it is also extremely popular in aromatherapy and cosmetic products.
Lemongrass is a powerful antioxidant and an excellent source of vitamin C.
It can be used dried or fresh and is an indispensable ingredient in Asian recipes featuring fish, chicken and pork.
Due to its citrusy flavour, the dried leaves are mainly used here in herbal infusions or tea, but we can also prepare various refreshing cold drinks and iced teas, which are wonderfully thirst-quenching, whilst also having a soothing effect on one’s well-being and reducing tension. It goes well with ginger, cloves, lemon and lime, mint and lemon balm.
